Beipanjiang Bridge is suspended over a 1,854-foot gorge became the "world's highest", which connects the Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in southwest China. People's Daily Online reported. It surpassed the 1,837-foot-tall Sidu River Bridge for its world record title.
According to the Economic Daily News reported , as the world-class bridge, its construction would face five difficulties: Temperature control of large volume concrete in mountain area; High-performance pumping concrete by high-performance cable tower; Integral hoisting of steel anchor beam in mountainous area; Jacking of steel truss girder with side span and high pier and Large span steel truss girder oblique. Obviously, Chinese technology and engineering team successfully overcome the difficulties.
Beipanjiang was constructed to decrease driving time between the regional cities of Liupanshui in Guizhou and Xuanwei in Yunnan from five hours to just two.
