RED ARMY BRIDGE GIVEN REBIRTH

As one of the best gifts for the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the new “Red Army Bridge” across the Chishui River on the border between Sichuan province and Guizhou province in southwest China has been completed on Sept 30, 2019.

     With hundreds of years of history, Shangshaozhai Village was once separated from the outside by Chishui River which left the unique way to lead outward by boat.


     In 2017, to deal with the strain of local traffic, the Chinese government started to build this new bridge with the same name as “Red Army Bridge”, just to echoes its predecessor.


     With a height of 243.5 meters the pylons are the highest in the world and with a total length of 2009 meters,this bridge becomes another super project of engineering.

To guarantee the maximum life span of this epic project, gussasphalt technology has been chosen to meet the strict waterproofing requirement of steel bridge deck. Originated in Europe, gussasphalt has now been widely recognized as “Bridge Guardian” all over the world. It also becomes one of the most popular waterproofing technic in the construction field of China, participated in hundreds of bridge projects including world famous HONG KONG-ZHUHAI-MACAO BRIDGE.

 

    One set of EB50/75 finisher and several sets of AWOL600 cookers have to be finally chosen by the Chinese customer, as to fulfill the highest quality requirement of gussasphalt pavement. All of these machines on the bridge are manufactured by LINNHOFF HENNE.

    The EB50/75, equipped with one set of noise-reduced HATZ-Diesel engine which has an output of 35 HP. All its power has been precisely transmitted to the sword distributor, crawler-type chassis and other terminal devices through the hydraulic system from REXROTH. Benefited from its traction motors combined with planetary gears, it assures a smooth paving drive of 7.5m width with a speed from 0.25~5m/min, even in the condition of sloped surface.

 

    The AWOL600 has a maximum capacity of 6 cbm, equipped with horizontal mixing system which is generated by direct hydrostatic drive through adjustable pump, could perfectly fix the variable viscosity of different recipes. Two sets of WEISHAUPT diesel burners and full insulated coatings ensures a constant temperature during transportation.

 

    “These fine machines really help us a lot. The temperature, paving stability are automatically and fully controlled by the finest computer system. We have nothing to worry about in the tough condition of jobsite.” The manager of paving project continued “Actually, we are all excited that we could use the equipment from LINNHOFF & HENNE, which also served for the HONG KONG-ZHUHAI-MACAO BRIDGE! Wonder of the world! ”

 

    The opening of “Red Army Bridge” marks the final completion of the JGX expressway which connected Chongqing Municipality with Guizhou province and Sichuan province. It shortens the traffic time to 10 minutes compared to formerly 2 hours.


Project history:

The Red Army, forerunner of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) built a one meter width wooden bridge with local villagers together in December 1934, after which carried out a daring military maneuver that laid the foundation for the eventual victory of the Communist Party of China. To commemorate the close relationship between the Red Army and the local people, this wooden bridge got its name as "Red Army Bridge."
